The E-Wing, so hot right now.

E-Wings have been seeing some play recently (specifically Rogue Squadron Pilots) by turning out to be a decent counter against False Transponder Codes. But they’ve not set the scene alight since First Edition Corran Horn.

The first points update from AMG may change that. Two things specifically:

1. Corran has dropped by 3 points (62 down to 59), whilst Gavin is down 5 points (60 down to 55).

2. All E-Wings now have the Tech slot.

These two things got me thinking. Could I use them to build some jazzy new lists?

So here are some lists that either myself or my friends have put together. Maybe they will help you out, or maybe you can rip them apart. Either way it’s a good talking point.

Ben Cooper (me!)

The first list is something I put together but since checking out Reddit seems other people had very similar ideas!

Total points: 200

Targeting Synchronizer on Gavin helps the Y-Wings with his early double lock. They now have two choices of target heading into the first engagement. Sure they don’t get the benefit of rerolls (as they don’t have their own locks to use) but they can focus up and Gavin can buff their attacks with his pilot ability.

The Ys also have enough HP to tank some shots so if you’ve range controlled correctly that’s three Proton Torpedoes being launched in one round.

Adding a Dorsal Turret and R4 to each of them adds a different dimension too so they’re not useless after getting the torps off.

Fire-Control System and Elusive are there to help Gavin both defensively and offensively…and so the list is 200 points 😎

As soon as Oli sent over this list on the RO Discord (get in touch if you want to join), I knew he’d have A-Wings involved.

He’s had the same idea as me but went for the Knave instead to save some points. Where we’ve differed greatly is that he’s gone for a mixture of mobile missile carriers.

What I like over my list is Cluster Missiles as their bonus attacks give you the opportunity to fire nine times in a single round. Spicy.

Owen has flown triple E-Wings in the past but now with Gavin dropping he has some more points to play with.

(59) Corran Horn [E-wing]
(2) R4 Astromech
(2) Fire-Control System
(2) Predator
(9) Primed Thrusters
Points: 74

(60) Luke Skywalker [T-65 X-wing]
(5) R2 Astromech
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(2) Brilliant Evasion
(6) Shield Upgrade
Points: 73

(46) Thane Kyrell [T-65 X-wing]
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(2) Predator
(5) Adv. Proton Torpedoes
Points: 53

Total points: 200

This is just three I5 ships with (hopefully) some good survivability. Primed Thrusters is expensive at 9 points but can give Corran some really good options after red moves to try and slip out of firing arcs.

Hope you found that useful. Let me know your new E-Wing builds and soon I’m sure there will be a ‘built’ article to go with this.
